2. Assessment of the quality of the content

It is important to be able to assess the quality of a website. When judging someone else's website, a number of different factors must be considered. There are some evaluation factors to judge the quality of the content.

I’m going to assess the quality of the content following factors like accuracy, authority, objectivity, currency, coverage. These criteria come from the following college library sites:

sources)
http://lib.nmsu.edu/instruction/evalcrit.html, http://www.library.cornell.edu/okuref/research/webcrit.html.

1) Accuracy & Authority: The contents are free of spelling, grammar, and punctuation mistakes. This website is made by British Council that is a reputable organization. Generally, information published at .org sites is more reliable than .com sites.

 2) Objectivity: This website’s goal is providing useful information to teachers not a commercial purpose. It contains a lot of information contents. And it has very clear purpose and target.

3) Currency: This website offer resources where the information is both current and accurate.

4) Coverage: The most useful websites cover a variety of topics and/or cover a topic in-depth. A site index, site map, or FAQ should be provided to help navigate the site and give the user some idea of the extent of the site's coverage. In this respect, this website provides a lot of useful information and materials. Teachers can find free teaching resources to use in their English lessons. There are lesson plans and activities, complete with worksheets to download, for primary, secondary and adult teachers.

And it also gives directory(site index, site map) to help teachers find adequate information easily. Users can find and access required information or materials quickly and easily.

A quality website is highly interactive. Teachers can join the TeachingEnglish community and talk to other teachers about their teaching and the issues. Teachers can discuss areas of interest and get advice in the forums and discussions, and can make their own blogs.

 3. Functionality of the website

1) Accessibility: This website can load quickly, and be viewable in different browsers, operating systems and monitor resolutions.

2) Design: The design of a website is a very important element to consider when judging overall quality. This website has a design that is visually appealing, readable, easy to navigate, and reinforces the purpose of the site.

3) Technological aspects and Interactivity: This website provides various technologies and the multimedia like online games(activities), videos, radio shows, blogs, polls, video discussion and so on. These technology can be used to make a website more interactive.
